Founders Diary #1 - I Just Realized i'm a Creative Entreprenuer

Today, I felt really inspired to write to you while listening to Sade in bed. I had a sudden realization—I’m a creative entrepreneur. I’ve never been good at sticking to titles or labels because I’m just a multifaceted woman, and I can’t be pinned down to one thing.
Growing up, I wore so many hats. I was in gymnastics, a fashion club director in high school, an art girlie, an aspiring YouTuber. I ran a fashion blog, randomly dipped my feet into real estate (I almost closed a $20K deal, so you know…), and eventually, I started a business that became a melting pot of everything I love. Best Girl is the evolving woman I continue to be—thriving, growing, and striving for the best. And looking back, every version of me always came back to the root of wanting to be an entrepreneur, empowering women like myself, and creating something cool.
For the longest time, I never felt comfortable calling myself a creative because I thought I had to create something iconic or shift the culture to claim that title. I put so much pressure on being original that, in some ways, it slowed down my momentum—especially after launching the Brown, Boujee, and Golden necklace. But lately, I’ve had this strong desire to revamp Best Girl’s brand direction by creating a community of women who relate.
Growing up in Florida as a Black woman who loved art, fashion, and culture, I was always the odd one out. I had trouble making friends because everyone around me was small-minded. And no one tells you how hard it is to make new friends in your late 20s.
I’m also a creative who’s still discovering her creative style. I naturally gravitate towards blacks and neutrals—my look is more polished and refined, so on the surface, I might just seem like another boujee girl. But I’m so much more layered than that. A lot of my fashion sense comes from a don’t overconsume ideology, but honestly? I’m bored. I want to branch out, evolve, and experiment with my personal style—while still keeping it minimal, chic, and sexy. We’re giving grown woman, OK?! Maybe I’ll keep sharing my style journey and entrepreneur thoughts here.

But to wrap things up—behind the scenes, I recently took myself on a coffee date at a fancy hotel to draft a new bracelet stack design. I’ve been taking in feedback while also reflecting on the kind of jewelry I naturally love to wear. I’m a dainty necklace, chunky bracelet, 1-2 rings type of girl, and based on what you all love too, I want to create a custom bracelet that’s on trend but with our own twist—the Best Girl way.
NEW THINGS
After Valentine’s Day, there’s going to be a big content shift and a fresh creative direction for our Instagram. It’s going to be unique to us—lover girls with a passion for art, fashion, and culture. I really hope you stay on this journey and join the community. Let’s chat!
P.S. Doechii and Beyonce made history as Grammy Winner and as I am telling my story let this be a reminder not to let anyone or even the small voice in your head box you in from being great.
